- What was the biggest surprise or “ah-ha” moment you had as you checked the course for quality? The biggest surprise was that this was not as simple a task as I initially thought it would be. The process requires time and thorough examination of each area within the course design. There were several areas that I thought were missing from the course design. After a more in-depth examination, I found that these areas were included but needed to be placed in an area that provided easier accessibility for learners.
- What did you learn about the course assessment process, and how does that impact your course going forward? One thing I learned about the course assessment process is that it is an essential factor in providing quality course material that is fundamental for successful learning experiences. The assessment process sheds light on areas that require improvement. Now that I am more knowledgeable about the course assessment process, I understand its role in making my learning experience more accessible, effective, and successful.
- What advice can you give another instructor or designer about their course when it comes to course assessment and quality? I would advise instructors/designers to always consider all learners’ needs when preparing course design. Some questions to consider are: Is the course content readily accessible for students? Are course materials displayed in a manner that is not confusing? In what ways can course content/design be presented in such a way that it gives students ease and makes their learning experience more effective?
