Ethics and Professionalism: Personal Reflections
In this course Roadmap assignment, I chose a case study assessment method to asses ethics and professionalism. Students are required to view a case study video from YouTube. After viewing the video, students were asked to write a journal reflection answering the following questions:
- What is your personal definition of ethics?
- What do ethics and professionalism mean to you?
- How would you react ethically if placed in the exact situation in the case study: It Was Just a Careless Mistake?
In addition, students were required to view a case study video of their choice and answer questions based on
the video viewed.
The peer review reflection helped me identify areas for improvement within my Course Roadmap. Peers stated that my paper was developed clearly and had several great assessment options. Improvement suggestions include:
- Consider separating the instruction into sections to provide more precise directions: In the final draft of the roadmap assignment, I include highlighted section areas for students.
- Consider elaborating further on what open peer discussion means to ensure students are clear on expectations. In the final roadmap paper, I explained what was expected of students during the open peer discussion. The open peer discussion would take place during a virtual meeting using Google Meet.
- Consider aligning the activity within your course learning outcome. This course roadmap assignment was a writing assignment aligned with my ELA course.
- Share links to sites for students to access. I provided links to YouTube and Google Meet in the final Roadmapassignment.
Overall, the suggestions from my peers helped me prepare my final draft with a clear understanding of what was expected from the instructor and students.
